A Little Organization

It's been a while since my last post and I won't go into all the reasons why I haven't posted but the MAJOR one has been the increase of my migraines.  For the ones of you that don't know, I've battle with migraines since a car wreck in 2006. I average one migraine every 7-9 days and it usually last about 3 days with meds.  Recently I have had two within the last month that last 7 days and now they are occurring every couple of days.  So I really haven't gotten a whole lot done and have been well let's just say depressed.  I see my neurologist on the 18th, that's the earliest he could see me.   Anyway enough about that!!!

Let me just say I love to organize and if I had the time and the money, I probably spend it reorganizing my whole house, but for now I will settle of finding things like this one at my friends yard sale on Saturday.  I even told her what she could do with it before I bought it.
I think I may have to splurge and purchase at least one more for our Kool-aid, unfortunately it will not be a $1.00.  Ha!! It feels so good when I declutter an area, I love it!!
I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name forever and ever.

Mums

Can you believe that it is the middle of September???
When we moved into our house in 2009 these two mums were already
planted, one of each side of the front walk in front of the porch and
every year they come back.  Each year they are this HUGE, this year they measure
3 feet across.  I would love to replant them but I'm afraid that I'll kill them and
I would hate to do that since that have last so long, but I would really
like to plant some evergreens in front of our porch.
I think this one looks "gappy" because its been so dry,
that's just my thought, I'm not a green thumb gardener.  Ha!

Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler days.  I'm just hoping that we have
plenty of cool days before the cold ones come.

You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Purple Striders Invitational

Just a few pictures from last weeks Purple Striders Invitational and let me just say it was a rainy, wet day, but in the eyes of my son, the BEST kind of weather to run in.

Two of our youngest team members, Lucy and Owen.  Coach wrote Owen's numbers on his forehead and he thought that was the coolest!!
Courtney and Brooke stretching while Phillip, Russell, and Dana
stand at the Finish line and cheer on the middle schoolers.
The Varsity girls warming up at the starting line.  Can you spot Courtney, the one in the neon stripped knee socks???  I love it!!!

Way to GO!!!
Jonah ran a strong race for this course, coming in at 17:30, he took 6th place.
Courtney, Caroline, and Brooke after the rain had passed and the sun was out.
Jake told the girls to hold him up.....this is as far as that got. Ha! Love it!

9.11.12

I'll never forget that day, watching the second building collapse, seeing the video footage on t.v., watching everyone run for their life and wondering what was going to be next.  I remember everything about that day.  I was stunned, it was a paralyzing day in America.  Jonah was in Kindergarten and it is said that his age group will be the last to remember this day.

That night a large group of us meet at church for a prayer.  While we were at church Jonah was drawing, like normal and he drew a picture that I still have today of what he had seen either on t.v. or heard others speak about during the day.  A picture of the towers and a airplane blowing up, all through the eyes of a innocent 5 year old.  A very sad day in history, one that will never be forgotten, especially today as we remember the survivors and those who we lost on that day.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

Rank Advancements

Last week Jonah received his rank advancement with Boy Scouts.  Now he is LIFE, which means he is on the "home stretch" to becoming EAGLE.  He now can begin his Eagle Scout project....WHOOO HOOO!!!  I thought I never (well I shouldn't say never).... It seem like this day would never get here, but all Jonah has left to do is his Eagle Scout Project and to complete a couple of merit badges that he has already started and then he'll will be part of that small population that has completed their Eagle Scout.  I am so proud of his dedication to scouts, It has been hard for him with school and his running but he has stuck with it.

Twilight Run

Saturday was the Twilight Run which starts the 5K races for Jonah and Courtney for the cross country season.  This year's race was much larger then the two years prior, which gave us stiffer competition.
The girls varsity team at the starting line.

Courtney ran a time of 24:39, which is a season's best for her.
The girls varsity team placed 5th
Start of the boys varsity race, you see now why I love the pick socks that my son wears,
I can easily spot him in a large group.

Jonah took 9th place in the varsity boys race with a time of 17:22, which is a PR for him and right now Jonah is ranked 15th in the state.
Way to GO!!!!
The varsity boys A team (minus a couple of boys) came in 3rd place.
Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

19 years

19 years ago today, I walked down the isle to say "I do" to the love of my life.  He has been a wonderful husband, an awesome dad, and a great friend.  I am so glad that he choose me to be Mrs. Starling.  It's hard to believe that we have been together (dating) for 21 years, over half of my life has been spent with this man and I am so looking forward to spending so many more years with him.  I have truly been blessed!!!!

Cricut Time

Last night, I was able to spend a couple of hours in my scrapbook craft room, yes I've realize that I need to change the name of my room seeing how I spend more time on other craft projects then scrapbooking.   I purchased this ceramic plate at TJ Maxx for hardly nothing.  I love the shape of the plate so I added Phillip and my monogram to it in a beige, as of right now my plans are for it to go in our master bedroom, which is in need of a mini-makeover.
These are clipboards I made for a friend's kids.
I love what you can do with vinyl and the cricut.  I made several of these Spartan clipboards for the guidance office last year.  Oh and don't you just love the capital T on my friend's inital, makes me want to put a T on something at my house.  Ha!!  Yes, I love making things for friends.  I get that honestly from my parents.  There's a true joy there when you make something for someone and you can see the appreciation that they have for what you have done.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor weekend!!!
May the name of the LORD be praised.
